About green Magazine
From the publisher:
Australia's leading sustainable architecture and landscape design magazine for inspirational stories on local and international houses, gardens and profiles. Much has been written about plants and their effect on human health and happiness. The yearning to be in and amongst nature is referred to as biophilia. With studies showing that the more time we spend in nature the lower our stress levels, it seems to me that the more space we give over to vegetation around our homes the better. In this issue five houses demonstrate a deep connection to the outdoors and surrounding bushland. In Sydney’s Northern Suburbs a house designed by Incidental Architecture for a family of eight made space for a large tree that spreads itself high and wide, enveloping the house in its canopy. On Victoria’s Surf Coast on a richly vegetated site, Not All Architecture used a recessive, dark interior to ensure the garden spaces take visual precedence. In Brisbane a home of small interconnecting structures has been carefully reconfigured by Arcke to introduce connection to the adjacent river and trees. Architect George took a classic box-on-stilts beach house and added a veranda, bringing light and access from a number of rooms to the surrounding bush. Back on the Surf Coast, Zen Architects built against the contours of the land in order to save more trees while also meeting a BAL 29 bushfire rating. Note: Issue #98 is on sale in newsagents.
